5. Air flows from stagnation source at 800 kPa & 100°C into a converging-diverging nozzle at a mass flow rate of 2.6 kg/s. If the nozzle exit pressure is 162 kPa, and there are no shocks in the nozzle, find the (a) the exit area Ae; (b) the throat area At; (e) what increased nozzle exit pressure Pe would cause a normal shock to occur at an area As/At - 1.18 and what would be the exit Me under this condition? (d) what would be the pitot tube pressure readings if the pitot is placed just upstream and then downstream of the shock? . Approx. Ans: (a) Ac -2.5 x 10m? :(b) At-1.4 x 10 m: (c) Pc - 700 kPa ; Mc - 0.7; (d) Po-600 kPa (both same!)
