The design concrete strength used for the design of a reinforced concrete building is 5 ksi. In order to reduce the changes of the actual strength to be smaller than the design strength, the concrete supplier provides concrete with larger strength following a logpormal distribution. During concrete casting, concrete cylinders are collected. The concrete strength from 5 cylinders is listed in the table below a) Find the parameters and of the lognormal distribution b) Assuming that the concrete strength obtained from the 5 cylinders are representative of the concrete strength at any location in the building, find the probability that the actual concrete strength at any location in the building is smaller than the design strength.
