Question 1 [25 marks) A thick-walled uniform beam of length 2 m is simply supported as shown in Figure Q1(a). The beam is subjected to a concentrated load of 10 kN at its mid-span position between the two supports AB in the same vertical plane and the load is acting vertically downward in the plane of the cross-section as shown in Figure Q1(b). The beam's cross-sectional wall thickness is 15 mm throughout and dimensions are shown in Figure Q1(b).
