(a) A signal band-limited to 500 kHz is sampled at the rate 50% higher than the Nyquist rate and quantized into 256 levels using an u-law quantizer with u = 100. (1) Determine the minimum transmission bandwidth and signal-to-quantization-noise ratio (SQNR). (ii) Consider that the SQNR obtained in (i) is not satisfactory and must be increased by 12 dB. Propose one possible way to achieve the desired SQNR without increasing the transmission bandwidth.
