(a) ( Consider Figure 1 below, where the receiver (Rx) at location C is communicating with Transmitter 1 (Tx-1) at location A and with a height of h. At the same time, the receiver is interfered by wireless signals sent from Transmitter 2 (Tx-2) at location B and with a height of 2h. Assume that 1) the transmit powers at Tx-1 and Tx-2 are P and 2P, respectively; 2) Both transmitters use the same carrier frequency; 3) the height of the receiver is negligible; 4) the distance between A and B is L, and 5) A, B, C are over the same line. (i) Assume further that distance between location A and C is x. Determine the desired receive signal power and the interfering receive signal power at the Rx. (ii) Derive out the largest value of x such that the desired receive signal is not overwhelmed by the interfering signal. (iii) Besides the path loss and multiuser interference, briefly describe at least two more wireless pagation effects which could affect the receiver performance. = , 2 47f [hint: consider the simplified path loss model where Pr, Pt, c, f, d refer to Pt the receive power, the transmit power, the light speed, carrier frequency, and distance between the transmitter and the receiver, respectively.] TX-2 Tx-1 Interfering signal.
