Chapter 24 – Dialogue. Consider building a dialogue system
for
registering for a class, and the system has available the
information in UDEL
courses search. The basis for the system would be a GUS-Style frame
based on
the columns of the table from the course search.
a. (5 points) As indicated, the frame itself is
specified in the table (for
instance, there will be a course slot, a title slot, a campus slot,
etc...).
What constraints would you put on the filler-values of those slots
that might facilitate question/answering by the
system? [Take a look at the LEC sections of CISC101 for some
ideas.]
So, we are looking for what the legal values are for the various
slots.
b. (20 points) How should the system respond to
the following opening
queries. Indicate what kind of reasoning the system would have to
do to
provide those responses.
i. I would like to register for CISC101 with Prof. Neff.
ii. I would like to register for CISC106 MWF 11:15am-12:05AM.
iii. I would like to take CISC101 with Prof. Gopalkrishna.
c. (15 points) Make 2 different successful
dialogue completions to the
following start. In at least one of these, show how the system
would
resolve a problem (e.g., because the user has chosen an
inconsistent set of
fillers).
Dialogue Start: I am interested in taking
CISC106.
