Estrogen, insulin, progesterone, parathyroid hormone, glucagon,
and many others are all hormones. Why is it, then, that each
mediates specific physiology? For example, insulin is involved in
regulation of blood glucose concentrations, while progesterone
affects uterine quiescence.
