You should have an entry for each of the N microstates of problem 2. Next, assign term symbols to each of the microstates. Start with the highest value of Mi and, within that value, the highest value of Ms. Assign all of the microstates belonging to the corresponding term symbol. For example, a P state will contain microstates with ML = 0, 1, and -1. Which of the states described above will have the lowest energy? Explain your reasoning.
