6. Know the organs/glands of the endocrine system highlighted in
the book (hypothalamus, pituitary gland, thyroid, parathyroid,
adrenals, and pancreas). What do each of them do? What are some of
the hormones associated with them?
7. What are the parts of a nerve cell? Where on a neuron is
information received and transmitted?
8. Know all of the different nervous systems. What is the
difference between the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous
systems? What specifically do each of them do?
9. Why is the cerebral cortex important? What does it
control?
10. Be prepared to tell me about one of your hormones. Include
where it arises, what it does, and something interesting about
it.
11. Simply describe the process of firing a nerve, from resting
state to resting state (and along the nerve cell). Be sure to know
the different ions and which are higher and lower in/outside the
cell.
12. Be prepared to give your supported thoughts about why
defining our biological sex soley as XX or XY is insufficient.
