The color of the peppered moth in England has changed
drastically over the past 200 years. Originally, most peppered
moths had light coloration. However, because of widespread
pollution during the Industrial Revolution in the the late 1700s,
dark-colored moths became much more common. When the
Industrial Revolution took place, the pollution killed the lichens
growing on the trees and also darkened the tree bark with soot from
the pollution. Explain how the color change seen in the peppered
moth population is an example of evolution by natural selection
