A student tried to dissolve H2S gas in 1.00 L of water. She found that the partial pressure of H2S above the solution is 3.25 atm. Given that Henry's Law constant for H2S (kH2S) is 0.087 mol L-atm-- and the density of water at this temperature is 1.00 kg L?. (a) H2O exists as a liquid while H2S exists as a gas at room temperature and pressure. Explain this phenomenon in terms of intermolecular interaction. Given that the electronegativity difference between S and H atoms is very small. (4 marks) (6) Calculate the molarity of H2S in the solution. (3 marks) (c) Calculate the mole fraction of H2S in the solution. Assume there was no volume change when H2S dissolved in water. (5 marks) (d) Calculate the molality of H2S in the solution. (2 marks)
