2. (a) Write down the integral version of the Ampère-Maxwell law (in the absence of media). Define all terms. (b) Derive the differential form of the Ampère-Maxwell law from the integral form, explaining all steps. (c) Use the example of a charging capacitor to explain Maxwell's correction to Ampère's original 'law'. Provide appropriate diagrams and equations. (d) State why the differential form of Maxwell's equations are considered to be more fundamental than the integral form. (e) Show that the magnetic flux may be written as an integral of the magnetic vector potential. (f) An infinitely long straight solenoid of radius R and with n turns per unit length carries a current I. i. Show that the magnetic field B inside the solenoid may be written B = Honi and is zero outside the solenoid. ii. Use the example of the solenoid to explain why the magnetic vector potential is considered to be more fundamental than the magnetic field B. iii. Explain how a 'back emf' arises from Maxwell's equations if the current in the solenoid changes.
