If a ribosome started reading the wrong reading frame on an mRNA, what would you predict would happen? the promoter sequence would not be bound by RNA polymerase, so the gene would be silent the wrong sequence of amino acids would be polymerized by the ribosome the cell cycle would stop because DNA replication could not take place without activating the right reading frame a mutation would occur in the gene, resulting in an altered phenotype
