A new chemotherapeutic drug was sent to a testing laboratory to
assess its toxicity. Initial in-vitro toxicology studies were
carried out by exposing cells to the compound over a wide range of
concentrations for a period of 24 hours. The tests were carried out
using two human cell lines which were C3A cells and Huh7 cells
(hepatocyte-derived). Cell viability assays were undertaken using
the MTT assay and absorbance was measured at 560nm.
The MTT absorbance of the cells was determined after 24 hours.
In the absence of the novel chemotherapeutic compound, the
absorbance was 2.13 for both cell lines.
