Real life case study
Tomato is a winter cash crop, which is cultivated in the Kingdom of Bahrain. The fruits popular and used in fresh salads and juices and consumed almost on daily bases by many families. Accordingly, it can be a good source of income for the farmers. In Bahrain, tomato seedlings are established during September by seed germination. Farmers grow the seedlings to maturity and fruiting stage in greenhouses or fields. Unfortunately, only few farmers use hydroponic systems in Bahrain. Hydroponic systems proved to be an excellent alternative method for mass crop production with minimal water consumption. However, the majority of our farmers are not trained on using these systems, which can affect their crop production and hence their income.
Here we have an example:
Mohammed and Abdulla are two Bahraini farmers who grow tomato as a cash crop. Frequently and for more than two seasons, Mohammed's yield was double Abdulla's Yield. Therefore, Abdulla's income is half of Mohammed's income from the same crop using the same hydroponic systems. You are an agriculture consultant. Abdulla asked you for help to overcome the problem of low crop production. You visited his farm and did some experiments and collected data, which are presented in the attached excel sheet.
Help Abdulla to overcome the above problem(s)
