I have write all the values below that is needed for calculation
and also give the part : 3 experiment on which I required
calculation, I need ans of a,b,c
CuCO3 mass = 0.603 g
CuO molecules = 4.88x10 to power of -3
Volume = 19.52 cm3
CuCO3 Percentage yield = 71.7%
pH of Acid + CuCo3 = 3.1
Mass of soultion = 13.043
Conductivity = 18.5 m.s
Use the calibration curve/graph below
a) to determine the w/w% concentration of the copper sulfate in
part 3.
b) Find the mass of the solute in part 3.
You will need to use this relationship: weight % = (mass of
solute / mass of solution ) x 100
c) Calculate the overall percentage yield of copper sulfate
formed from copper (II) carbonate.
Part 3: Determination of copper sulfate
concentration
• Weigh a clean dry 100 cm3 beaker accurately and record the
mass. • Clamp the filter funnel securely above the clean dry
beaker. • Fold a filter paper so that it is fluted, and put it in
the funnel. • Make sure the beaker containing your solution is
fairly cool. • Gently swirl the contents to mix, and then pour into
the filter paper in the funnel. Allow to filter through into the
clean dry beaker. • A clear blue solution should pass through the
filter. If the solution is not clear and any black powder remains
in it, you will need to repeat the filtration. Using a little
distilled water from a wash bottle, rinse any remaining copper
sulfate into the funnel to maximise the amount collected. • Weigh
the beaker with the contents, to accurately record the mass of
solution collected. • Measure the conductivity of the solution
using the conductivity meter, and record. • If the conductivity
meter reads 20 mS/cm, then ask a teacher for help, as this
indicates that you have reached the maximum on the scale.
