For each of the complex ions [Fe(CN)6]^3-and [V(H2O)6]^2+
(i)Draw an orbital energy level diagram that shows how the
d-orbitals are splitin energyand assign the appropriate labels
(t2g, eg, e, or t2) to the sets of d-orbitals. (2 marks)
(ii)Show how the d-orbital sets of each complex ion you have
drawn in (i) above are occupied by electrons.(4 marks)
(iii)One of the complex ions ([Fe(CN)6]3-or [V(H2O)6]2+)exhibits
a Jahn-Teller distortion. Identify which complex this is. Determine
what type of distortion you would expect to observe for this
complex ion by drawing energy level diagrams that show how the
d-orbitals are split on distortion and how the electrons occupy
these orbitals. (3 marks)
please help and show as much working possible
