p(atm). 0.1 moles of an ideal gas undergoes a process shown in the pV diagram to the right. B 3.0 a. What is temperature, pressure, and volume of the gas at point A (in Sl units)? 2.0 A 1.0 b. What is the heat, Q, of the gas at point A (in !)? If V (cm) 2000 3000 4000

d. Two students are discussing their answers to parts b and c: Student 1: I think these are quite straight forward, Q = nCT and W=-pV. Student 2: I don't think that's quite right. I thought heat and work was all about energy transfer from an initial to a final state, so I'm not sure it would make sense for a single state of the gas to have heat and work associated with it. I also think your equations are missing a AT and an integral. Do you agree or disagree with either or both of these students? Briefly explain your reasoning. e. Calculate the work done by the environment on the gas, W, for the process shown in the figure that takes the gas from state A to state B. Make sure your answer is in Joules and that you have the appropriate sign.
