2. 10,000 kg of a dilute magnesium sulfate solution containing 10% MgSO4 in water is passed through an evaporation system, where 70% of the water in solution is removed. The concentrated solution is then fed to a cooling crystallizer operating at 50°F. During cooling, 10% of the water fed to the crystallizer is removed by evaporation. The resulting mixture in the crystallizer generates heptahydrate crystals and mother liquor at 50°F. Calculate the mass of the crystal crop. The phase diagram for MgSO -water system is shown in Fig. 3 - clearly mark any information read from the chart.
