Consider an CSTR (continuous stirred-tank
reactor) operating adiabatically on a liquid fuel.
It is desired to carry out the following elementary and
irreversible reaction: A ---> 3B
The fuel is a mixture containing 1.5 moles of A and 1 mole of
B for each kg of benzene (Solvent).
1.Determine the temperature of the product stream if a conversion
of 78% is reached in the reactor.
2. If, instead of a single CSTR, there is an assembly with two
adiabatic CSTR in series and the same conversion is
achieved at the outlet of the second reactor, determine the
conversion achieved in the first reactor if the temperature of the
stream leaving the itself is 48oC.
Data: Initial stream temperature: 20oC, H=-68000 kJ/kmol, cpA=55.8
kJ/kmol K, cpB= 39.1
kJ/kmol K, cpD= 81.5 kJ/kmol K, PmD=78.12 kg/kmol.
