A contracted (unsuppressed) sharp crested weir is to be
installed to measure the discharge in a rectangular channel of
width 5 m. and height 2 m. the maximum discharge in the channel is
expected to be 1.5 m3/s. it is required that at the maximum
discharge the depth above the crest should be 0.5 m, and the water
level in the channel should not rise to within 0.3 m from the top
of the channel. Assuming the discharge coefficient of 0.62,
determine the width and the height of the weir.
