A building consists of 4 floors where the first three floors are residential apartments with no fire protection. The 4th floor consists of a small restaurant where fire protection is needed. The firefighting engineer has designed a recessed wet sprinkler system with a recessed distance of 1 foot from the branch line as shown in the map below. The restaurant is classified as ordinary hazard, Group I. The floor-to-floor height is 10 ft. pipes are made of galvanized steel (C = 130). The riser is located outside the protected area as shown. For just the area shown below, estimate: 1. The size of the sprinklers and branches 2. The operational area, Ad 3. The flow rates and the pressure drops at Ta and Tz. Deduce the flow rate of the HMDA. 4. The total pressure drop at the top of the standpipe. Deduce the size of this standpipe. 5. The head and the flow rate of the main fire pump as well as the jockey pump.
