Design Criteria We have the char of density 1.59 g/cmº (carbon), so the vacuum air velocity must be high enough to carry a particle the size of char. We can determined this with pipe diameter / area which is (m/m). From the Fig1, we can also determine the requirement speed for the vacuum system then we can determine the selection for the vacuum pump.
