A laser or LED light source has an optical power output that is
usually measured in milliwatts. However, it is sometimes
convenient to express this in terms of Decibels, referenced to 1
milliwatt , which is given the dBm nomenclature. To do this,
use the equation; dBm = 10log(Pact/Pref), where Pact is the actual
power in milliwatts, and Pref is equal to 1mw. Convert the
following power levels to dBm, and then back to mw.:
