At a pharmaceutical company, a new experimental allergen was developed and dermatologists were interested in comparing the skin sensitivity of the new formulation to the existing product. Twenty subjects were chosen to participate in the study. Reactions to allergen injections vary greatly from person to person, so each of the 20 participants tested both products. For each participant, the existing formulation was injected into one arm (left or right) at random, and the new formulation was injected into the other arm. Skin sensitivity on each arm was then measured as the diameter of the red area at the injection site (in cm). The dermatologists wish to compare skin sensitivity for the two products.
