Starting from the formula for the Laplace transform of sin( w t), write the equivalent improper integral on the left side. Now differentiate each side with respect to the frequency variable s. On the left side, pull the derivative inside the integral sign, wherein it becomes a partial derivative. This will lead to a formula for the Laplace transform of a function with a linearly growing pseudo-amplitude. We saw this “secular” function when we studied undamped resonance (sect. 4.3). Is the formula a “frequently encountered Laplace transform,” in Table 6.1 on p. 626?
