Previously we saw that ∫ 1 0 √xex dx ≈ 1.25563 00825 51863
doesn’t behave as expected be- cause of the singularity in the
second derivative at the left endpoint. What happens when you apply
Romberg integration with eight steps? Clearly the fact that the
error is not behaving as expected is screwing up the extrapolation,
and more powerful methods are required. Use matlab.
