3. The batteries in the previous problem were tested by using them in small strings of indoor lights that are used for decorations at holidays and other times. The lights are battery-powered so they can be used in more places without having to have an electrical outlet. The indoor lights were produced by three different companies. The researchers wondered if the indoor lights could affect battery life, if some brands used more energy than others. They did another analysis, this time including information on the brands of the indoor lights. The results are shown below. (12 pts.) Battery Battery Battery Battery Indoor lights 25 27 30 25 Indoor lights B 29 38 24 39 Indoor lights 21 28 16 19 A. State the appropriate hypotheses for a test of difference between means (now we have means for batteries and means for indoor lights) (4 pts) B. Run the ANOVA data analysis for this problem that takes the indoor lights into account and attach/email your output (4 pts.) C. Can you conclude that some of the means of the batteries are different? (1 pt.) yes no Can you conclude that some of the means of the lights are different? (1 pt.) yes no E. Did the results of the test for equality of means among the battery brands change when the brands of indoor lights was included in the data analysis? (1 pt.) Yes No F The primary interest in these tests was the average life of the batteries indoor lights But the results show that the data for both should be included. (1 pt.)
