The World Health Organization (WHO) Framework Convention on Tobacco Control has established a number of strategies for tobacco control. These include: Protect people from exposure (Article (8) Warn people about the dangers of tobacco (Article 12) Offer people help to end their addition to tobacco (Article 14) Ban sales to and by minors (Article 16) Article 7 requests that the Conference of the Parties (COP) propose guidelines for the implementation of the convention to assist parties in meeting their obligations. You are asked to use one of these strategies and identify five key areas that must be given priority attention in developing a social marketing intervention. (a) Explain the five key areas and (b) Describe their critical role in planning and developing this intervention.
