AY 202 LC CHE 167 Exp. #11 Qualitative Analysis of an Unknown Salt a Torhat 1. Introduction In today's experiment you will build on what you learned in the last 2 weeks and use your Qual Schemes for anions and cations to identify the ions in an unknown salt. Once again you will use Chemical tests to identify ions, but you must use the data you collected over the course of the past 2 weeks to help you develop your own procedure for today In today's experiment you will be graded solely based on your ability to correctly identify the ions in unknown solution. Today's lab is a really fun challenge. Have fun! 15 your 22 2. Procedure. 1. Dissolve your unknown salt in a minimum amount of water (up to 25 ml) in a 50 ml beaker. Use only as much water as is required to completely dissolve all of your solid. We suggest you begin with 25 mL of deionized water. 2. Use the Information from the last 2 weeks to develop a procedure that details the order in which you will perform your chemical tests. 29 3. Complete the identification of your unknown. Don't forget to write down all your observations and process your data into a coherent data table at the end.
