2. Mr. JR is a 46 years old male of 190 pounds (lbs) and 6 feet 2 inches tall. He is a patient on the Adult Surgical Ward. The physician provides a medication order for Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) with the following components: Total Calories: 2711.5 kcal Dextrose = 558.25 grams/day Amino Acids = 95 grams/day Lipids = 81.35 grams/day Sodium = 37mEq/day Potassium - 9,3 grams/day Magnesium = 5mEq/day Calcium = 27.5mmol/day Sterile Water ad. Total Fluid Volume Total Fluid Volume of TPN - 30ml/kg/day a) Using the following products stored at the pharmacy: Lipids Emulsion (100 mg/mL): Amino Acids Solution (1:5 w/v) and Dextrose 50% w/v Injection, calculate the volumes of Dextrose, Lipids and Amino Acids that are required to prepare the TPN composition as stated by the physician. [3 marks] b) How many grams of calcium gluconate are present in 27.5 mmol of this solution? [1 mark] c) Calculate how many milli-osmoles are represented in the daily total fluid volume of TPN, if 39mg of Na are present in 25mL. [2 marks]
d) The TPN require 9.3 grams dibasic potassium phosphate (K HPO ) in its daily total fluid volume. Calculate how many grams of 15% potassium chloride (KCI) can be used to replace the dibasic potassium phosphate (K HPO ) in the TPN formulation 12 marks e) What is the concentration, in grams/mL of SmEq of magnesium sulphate heptahydrate? 12 marks)
