Water In ko LC The system above represents a water tank used by the NWC in their waste water management system. Tank has level detectors located at the sides of the tank indicating a high water level and a low water level. When the waste water is at the high Water level the pump is turned on Out and when it is at the low water level, it is turned off. The problem is that whenever there is anything wrong with the detectors, the workers have to climb into the sewage to fix it so that the pump can operate. This is hazardous to the health of workers. h A new system, shown below, is proposed using an ultrasonic level detector which is geared towards preventing the workers having to go into the tank for fixing the detector. The detector is located above the tank but would operate as described above. ULTRASONIC LIQUID LEVEL TRANSMITTER Quick and easy to calibrate! DURCH puhutton Gioration Oy Now All PVC Construction Applications - Water/Wastewater Chemicals • Viscous Fluids Slurries * Self cleaning face for condensation removal • Microprocessor reliability * Built-in temperature compensation Calibrate in the tank or on the bench • 4-20mA or 20 mA output (a) Write a program to fit the above specifications ( 12 marks) (b) Design a computer interface to monitor tank levels, pumps and do switching for the circuit (12 marks) (c) Discuss any changes you would make to the proposed system in the future to improve its function (6 marks)
