An arc shaped beam is shown in figure 1. The arc describes an angle of 90° and has a radius of 1m. The mass of the beam is 3kg. Figure 2 shows how the arc is supported at its left hand end through a revolute joint. Initially the right-hand end is horizontally in line with the left-hand end. The right-hand end is released while the beam is at rest. The beam experiences a moment of 5 Nm in the opposite direction to the motion.
