Question 1 (25 marks)
A manufacture company produce four different products. In the manufacturing process, each product
requires assembly, polishing and packing operations. The following table shows the time (hours)
required for these operations as well as unit selling prices of different products.

a) The company has labors with capacity of 1000 hours of assembly time, 600 hours of polishi
time and 800 hours of packing time per month. Formulate the linear programming moc
maximize the monthly profit of the company. You are not required to solve the linear
programming problem.

b)
Suppose now that the company is free to decide how much time to devote to each of the three
operations (assembly, polishing and packing) within a total allowable time of 1000 + 600 + 800
= 2400 hours. How would you modify the linear programming formulation? What are the
optimal solution and the maximum objective value of this new linear programming model?
