(20 points) An F-5 aircraft is being used to test a new laminar flow control technology. The aircraft has the following characteristics: Mass: 6000 kg Wing area: 17.3 m2 Average wing chord: 2 m The aircraft is operated under the following test conditions: M= 1.4 Altitude = 12,000 m Viscosity = 1.43 x 105 kg/( ms) Calculate the following: (a) The friction coefficient of the wing assuming turbulent flow (b) The friction coefficient of the wing assuming laminar flow. If necessary you may extend the laminar curves on the chart. (c) The wave drag coefficient. Assume linearized supersonic theory applies.
