B2. (a) A 4 pole, 380 V, 50 Hz, three-phase induction motor delivers an output power of 15 kW when the motor induces a rotor e.m.f. at a frequency of 3 Hz. The total stator copper loss and core loss is 600 W. If the rotational losses absorb a torque of 15 Nm, evaluate (1 mark) (i) the slip (ii) (4 marks) the motor speed in rev/min, and (5 marks) (iii) the motor input power. (b) A shunt D.C. motor is connected to a 200 V D.C. supply, and the motor draws an armature current of 15 A at 200 rev/min. If the armature resistance is 0.512, evaluate (i) the back e.m.f. induced on armature, (2 marks) the mechanical power developed by the motor, and (2 marks) (ii) the motor speed in rev/min if the torque is reduced by 40 %. (6 marks)
