Tevi Garcia, a bright talented footballing prospect for the
future, a 16 year old Trinidad and Tobago footballer, making
headlines in Europe. He entered into a contractual agreement with
Omayga Excel Sports Management Company to deal with his image
rights. The contract had a 40% commission for the company and Tevi
didn’t receive any independent legal advice. His Manager at the
time Stevie Boldon, had a contract with him, where Mr. Boldon
expended money as it pertains to food, shelter, clothing and other
services. They had a major disagreement and now Tevi wants to end
the contract. Tevi also had a number of personal endorsements with
Bikee, Clear Waters, Lassy Stores and V-mobile. One of the sponsors
was concerned about his behaviour off the football field, as he got
into an altercation with a few patrons at a night club. His Agent
met with the sponsor and promised he will deal the situation. The
Agent also had a secret deal with the sponsor and collected
$10,000TT. Tevi also had some concerns about the commission and the
length of the contract.
Tevi continued his excellence in Europe. He was a hero back in
Trinidad and Tobago, so much so, one of his sponsors V-Mobile, was
printing an image of him with cell phone on T-shirts and selling
same. This was not part of their agreement.
