covered two Natioanl Football League games of the Trinidad and
Tobago Football Organization and highlighted certain aspects of the
games. The games were between FC Batalana and Real CyahBeatus at
Camp New, Barataria and the other game between Real Madras versus
Belta Vigo, at the Burnabout, San Fernando.
b) Real Madras versus Belta Vigo
This game had a high number of foul play being committed by the
players. The referee did not have control of the game, as he
allowed a number of hard tackles to occur without punishing
players. When at the 75th minute of play, Blanco Baresi from
Real Madras made a dangerous, reckless tackle on No.10 Skilldro of
Belta Vigo. Skilldro’s leg was visibly broken and also sustained a
head injury. Baresi was given a red card, this being the first card
of the game. Skilldro was stretchered off to the sidelines of the
field, however, it took 30 minutes for the ambulance and medical
personnel to arrive at the scene to take Skilldro to the hospital.
An hour after the game Baresi tweeted, “that Skilldro had it
coming, as he was showboating too much and he made a joke about my
wife, nobody makes jokes about my wife”. Three hours after this
tweet Skilldro died from the head injury.
