3. (30 points) Electric Field and Electric Field Lines. (a) Consider the electric field due to a positive point charge. If the value of the electric field due to that positive point charge is 100 N/C at a distance of 1.0 cm away from the point charge, what would be the value of the electric field [in N/C] at a distance 2.0 cm away? (b) Now consider this entirely different charge distribution: An electric dipole is charge distribution con- sisting of a positive and negative charge separated by some fixed distance. Sketch a dipole charge distribution, and the electric field lines of this charge distribution. Make sure to follow all electric field line rules, as discussed in your textbook, in class and in the last lab. (c) Now, place a small positive charge +q anywhere on your dipole field line sketch and draw a vector which indicates the direction of the electrostatic force experienced by the small positive charge.
