4) (challenge) Introduction to momentum in two-dimensions: two force vectors (F₁ and F₂, as shown below) act on a 2 kg object that has an initial velocity , of 3 m/s in the +x direction. (To solve this FNT refer to equations in Activity 7.1). This is an extension of FNT 6 from DL 8, where you found that: Y Fnet = (4.3, 17.5) N. a) Use the x- and y- components of the net force to determine F₂ the x- and y- components of impulse that acts on the 2 kg object when forces are applied for a time interval of 0.50 s. Always include units with your answers. Start with the relationship of impulse and force. Find each component of impulse separately. F₁ 30° X b) Find separately, for each component, the change in velocity of the 2 kg object, due to the impulse from a). Use the relationship between impulse and change in momentum. c) Find the magnitude of the final velocity of the object (after the impulse has acted) and the direction the velocity makes with the positive x-axis. If you are not sure how to do this, refer back to "Review of Trigonometry" in the previous FNT. 15 N 5 N
