Introduction:
The clinical performance evaluation tool is used in the clinical
course to provide an avenue for the student to document progress
toward achieving the course student learning outcomes. This
tool also serves as means for evaluation by the instructor. A
formal evaluation is completed and shared with the students at the
conclusion of the clinical rotation.
Instructions:
Students will self-evaluate their clinical performance in the
course, typing into this template. Please justify the scores
assigned with explanations of accomplishments and areas for growth.
Students will complete a self-evaluation in Lesson 15-16.
Upload this self-evaluation to Blackboard when indicated by the
course calendar. Faculty will then score students on each of the
competencies using the designated rating/scoring scale, considering
the quality of the performance and the amount of guidance required.
As students improve in accuracy, safety, and efficiency, it is
expected that they will require less guidance.
Competencies, Performance Criteria, and
Comments:
While the expectation is that all experiences in the clinical
course are participative, not all of these competencies and
expected behaviors will be demonstrated through direct nursing
care. The student will also have to demonstrate performance through
team meetings, interactions with peers, clinical assignments, skill
demonstrations, and virtual simulations.
