A quick change solution to the electric vehicle problem is the
zinc slurry battery system. In this battery, zinc particles are
suspended in a basic solution, and then reacted with oxygen in the
air to form zinc oxide (solid particles in suspension) as the final
product. The slurry can be quickly pumped out of the tank to
“recharge” the battery. b) What is the overall reaction, and the Eº
for the reaction? c) What mass of zinc metal would be needed to
provide the same amount of energy (618.99x10^3 Joules) as the tank
of gasoline in part a)?
