Given: (PGC 2nd 7.03) The conveyor shown is moving soda cans in the direction shown to the next step in the canning process. The conveyor is positioned at an angle of 8 25°. The cleats completely prevent slipping, however, they are not tall enough to dynamically influence tipping (i.e. you may treat the cleat as an effective "friction force," keeping the can in it's position on the conveyor). Treat each can as a uniform circular cylinder of weight Wz=7 lbf and dimensions w - 3 in & h = 6 in. Zap! do w Zap! h Zap! cleat Find: Determine the 1. magnitude of the force of the cleat on the can 2. normal force of the conveyor on the can & 3. maximum acceleration ao of the conveyor so that the cans do not tip over the cleats.
