Determine W(J), Q(cal), ΔU(J), ΔH(J) for each stage of the
following parts for three moles of ideal gas at the temperature of
200K, if:
a) The gas expands in one step, from 10 atm to 1 atm, against a
constant external pressure of 1 atm.
b) The expansion is carried out in two stages. In the first, the
gas expands from 10 to 4 atm, against a constant external pressure
of 4 atm. In the second, the gas expands from 4 to 1 atm, against a
constant external pressure of 1 atm.
c) The expansion is carried out in three stages: 1) from 10 to 4
atm at a constant external pressure of 4 atm, 2) from 4 to 2 atm at
constant pressure. constant external pressure of 2 atm, 3) from 2
to 1 atm at constant external pressure of 1 atm.
d) The expansion is carried out in 9 stages, from 10 to 1 atm,
progressively reducing the external pressure in increments of 1
atm.
e) The expansion takes place in an infinite number of stages f)
Say for each section what type of process it is.
