System 1: c) All five components in System 1 have the same reliability, p=0.850. > List the minimal cut sets for this system and use these to calculate the exact reliability of the system using the inclusion-exclusion method. d) There are different ways to calculate the approximate reliability of a system. > Calculate the approximate reliability of System 1 using the Barlow-Proschan method. e) There is a requirement that the system must have a reliability 0.95 or higher, which is not achieved in the original system (System 1). To meet the requirement, components 1 and 4 in the system are replaced with ones having higher reliability compared with component 2 or 3, where p1₁=p4 > P2=p3=0.850. Note that components 2 and 3 are not replaced. > Calculate how much components 1 and 4 must be improved for the system to have a reliability 0.95 or higher.
