It is believed our perception of product quality is strongly affected by the brand name. In other words, people are subconsciously inclined to rank the brand name product higher, even though it may not be actually better. To study if this perception holds true for ice cream, the marketing manager of a dairy asked 60 randomly selected people to taste the same ice cream twice in two different dishes. The dishes contained exactly the same ice cream but were labeled differently. One was given the name of a famous sophisticated European ice cream maker and the other was not marked at all. The tasters were asked to rate each ice cream on a 5-point scale, where 1 = poor, 2 = fair, 3 = average, 4 = good, 5 = excellent. The data were recorded in the file "Ice Cream.csv". Can we conclude, based on the samples collected, that people are inclined to rate brand name products higher? What type of data is being used in this study?
What is the appropriate test for the data? Sign Test t-test independent samples Chi-Squared Goodness-of-Fit test Wilcoxon Signed Rank Sum Test One-Way ANOVA Wilcoxon Rank Sum Test Multiple Regression t-test, matched pairs z-test of porportion differences (p-hat₁ - p-hat2) Kruskal-Wallis test Simple Regression
