11.5 A reverse osmosis (RO) system, with 100 tubes of 10 m length and 1.0 cm diameter, is used to concentrate orange juice from 11 to 40% total solids. The permeability coefficient for the RO membrane is 0.2 kg water/m² h kPa and the product feed rate is 200 kg/min. Determine the flux of water (kg water/h) through the membrane needed to accomplish the magnitude of concentration indicated. b.
