Question 3 The weight of a train wagon is 240 kN. Upon adding a weight of 320 kN, the springs of the wagon got compressed by 80 mm. a) Calculate the natural frequency of vibrations when i) the wagon is empty (without the added weight), (5 marks) ii) it is loaded with the 320 kN weight. (5 marks) b) The wagon is put in motion and its natural frequency is of an amplitude of 100 mm when the wagon is empty. Calculate the velocity of the wagon when its displacement is 40 mm from the statical equilibrium position. (15 marks) [Total: 25 marks]
