Question 1 As shown in Figure A below, a static block with a mass of 1 kg starts moving up a slope under a pulling force F. The velocity of the block as a function of time is recorded by a velocity sensor. As shown in Figure B, the velocity increases from 0 to 2 m/s uniformly between 0<t<0.5 s. When t = 0.5 s, the pulling force vanishes, and the block begins to decelerate at a fixed rate until the velocity reaches 0 at t = 1.0 s. Then, the block begins to travel downwards until its velocity reaches -1 m/s at t = 2.0 s. a) Using Figure A as template, clearly draw a free body diagram to describe all the forces acting on the block before t = 0.5s. (10 marks) b) s is the displacement between the block's position at t = 0 and t = 2.0 s. Use the information shown in Figure B to determine s. (10 marks) (10 marks) c) Determine the block's acceleration at t = 0.25 s d) Determine the block's acceleration at t = 1.5 s (10 marks) A TI F v/(m.s-1) 2 1 0 0.5 1 B 1.5 2 t/s
