Assume a CMU wall is 14ft tall:
a) Construct moment-axial force interaction diagram using the
Strength Design (SD) approach by hand assuming the wall in
partially grouted and is reinforced with one #5 bars at 24 in. OC.,
placed in the center of the wall. Use f’m=2000psi.
b) Based on your interaction diagram, is the wall adequate to
carry an axial load of Pu =30k/ft and a moment of Mu=5k-ft/ft
(ignore the effects of p-delta)?
